Bache-Gabrielsen AOC Petite Champagne Riffaud
A cognac made in collaboration with “Bouilleur de Cru” Riffaud in the tiny village of Echebrune in Petite Champagne, just a few kilometres southwest of the town of Cognac itself. The Ugni Blanc grapes come from Riffaud’s local vineyards, making the cognac Single Estate. The white wine that forms the basis of the cognac was double-distilled in the latter half of the 1990s by the family’s female distiller, Annick Riffaud. Since then it has been maturing in small French oak casks in Riffaud’s cellar in the Charente region. Before bottling, Annick and Bache’s Cellar Master, Jean-Philippe Bergier, produced the final cuvée from the different casks. This relatively young Petite Champagne is light, fresh and well balanced with a very elegant finish.
